We're an independent cafe based in Park Hill flats, right next to Sheffield’s train station and the city centre.
Join us for speciality coffee and Middle Eastern inspired food. Our kitchen is open for breakfast, lunch, Friday evenings, and Saturday brunch. You can also pop in after work for a great selection of northern craft beers and wines.
We opened our doors in March 2018, with the goal of creating a laid-back and sustainable café for the local community and beyond.
We only take bookings for groups of 6 or more, please email firstname.lastname@example.org

By Foot from the City Centre
There are two ways to walk to South Street Kitchen from the city centre. You can walk through the train station to the tram-stops beyond the rail platforms. Cross the tramlines and turn left immediately up the path with a gradual slope. At the top of the hill you are on South Street and SSK is pretty much straight in front in units 19-20 behind the wall saying the Scottish Queen. Alternatively you can take the footbridge over Park Square from Ponds Forge and then turn right and walk up South Street to SSK.
If you approaching from Park Square roundabout take the Duke Street exit (B6070) and then turn right after about 100m. You are now at Park Hill. Follow the gravel road up to the left and park in the top car park. If you are approaching from the west of the city drive up Shrewsbury Rd (B6071) until you reach the traffic lights at the junction with Duke Street. Turn left and then turn left after about 150m into the Park Hill estate. The entrance to South Street Kitchen is on the other side of Park Hill, to get there head right and walk around the building past the main entrances to the flats.

At South Street Kitchen we're serious about environmental sustainability. We strive to provide an affordable and enjoyable experience which doesn’t cost the earth.
Locally Roasted Coffee
Our current beans are locally roasted by Dark Woods Coffee in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Coffee has already produced enough air miles, so we decided to minimise any further travel by sourcing locally roasted beans.
We aim to buy as much organic food and drink as we can in order to keep our environment clean of pesticides and herbicides. We buy from local ethical suppliers, such as Suma near Halifax and Lembas in Sheffield, both of which are cooperatives. Buying from independent local business is also at the heart of our project. For example, all of our bottled beers come from breweries in Sheffield and the North of England.
Plastic takeaway packaging poses a real threat to our environment. At South Street Kitchen, we welcome people bringing their own containers to take our food away with them. If not we can provide you with fully compostable containers and cups.
The hospitality industry is known for using harsh chemicals to keep cleaning cheap. We believe that you can maintain a clean and hygienic café without covering it with bleach. Wherever possible we use cleaning products made by Ecover or other green suppliers, which ensure that we’re not flushing dangerous chemicals into our environment.
In the future we'll be holding talks and debates, film nights, and more. Keep an eye on this page or our social media channels for more information.
We have an 18-person-capacity flexible meeting room perfect for professional meetings, community groups or private events. It's private, spacious, bright, and comfortable. With its own serving area, we can provide food and drinks throughout the day and evening.
A 5-minute walk from Sheffield train station, South Street Kitchen is an ideal place to host meetings if you have attendees travelling into the city.
Please contact us for booking inquiries. We offer a discount for local charities and community groups.
